Terry Fox Run/Walk

Terry Fox Walk/Run

Thursday, September 28th, 2017 @ 1:45 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Once again Onoway Elementary School is pleased to be hosting our annual Terry Fox Walk on September 28th, 2017. In the case of rain/snow, Friday, October 13th, 2017 will be our alternate date. All monies raised through our event will be forwarded to The Terry Fox Foundation to further the cause of cancer research. Our walk will follow the same course as in previous years. Our day will include a ‘kick-off’ activity in the gym at 1:45 p.m. prior to beginning our walk at 2:00 p.m. around the baseball diamonds. Parents interested in bringing strollers, please note that all are welcome; however, the course may be rough so please use caution.  The course is approximately 1 kilometre in length and students will be encouraged to continue on the course for the entire hour from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Teachers, parents and supervisors will be present to assist students along the way. Refreshments will be provided for all participating students courtesy of the school council. All students are encouraged to take part.

A pledge sheet will be been sent home with each child and we ask that pledges are returned to the school by Tuesday, October 10th, 2017. If you wish to make on on-line pledge, the details to do this are included on your pledge sheet. Every child that creates an online fundraising page will be entered to win one of two new bikes through the Terry Fox Foundation!

We also invite you to participate by walking, jogging or by cheering for your children as they complete their laps. If required, extra numbered pledge sheets will be available in the office. No photocopies will be accepted. We are very proud to be associated with The Terry Fox Foundation and believe that our involvement will launch a successful, positive and meaningful school year. We appreciate the involvement of the School Council and the parent community for our event. If you would like to volunteer and help out at the event, please contact the OES School Council Chairperson Sheila Albertson at (780) 967-2031 prior to the day of the event to allow for the assignment of responsibilities. We hope to count on your support. Let’s keep Terry’s dream to find a cure for cancer alive.

Thank you in advance.
