Food Bank Frenzy Success

The Grade 7 Leadership Team at OES worked hard in the month of February to promote the Lac St. Anne East Food Bank. This group of students began the journey by meeting with Food Bank Board members Carolyne Saumer and Pastor Rick Foster and found out lots of information about the needs of the Food Bank. With this information, the team designed weekly themes that promoted items needed at the Food Bank. In total, over 1970 items were collected which weighed in at 791 kg. Cash donations to the Food Bank totaled $265.

The work of Leadership inspired students who belong to the Green Team. This group along with Mrs. Hetherington wanted the recycling money collected in the month of February to go to the Food Bank. A cheque for $1310 was also donated to Ms. Saumer and Pastor Rick. They were very pleased with the efforts of OES students and staff and their support of the Food Bank.

The Food Bank is experiencing higher than normal demand as many families are facing financial stresses with the shift in our economy. Thank you to all our school community for your continued support of this worthwhile event at OES. Showing community spirit and responsibility is an ongoing goal for all OES students.
